I wanna set the world on fire

I’ve been singing this song ‘Set the World on Fire,” by Britt Nicole for months now, letting the words settle over my mind and heart, hoping to one day look back and realize I’ve accomplished a small part of that huge task.

I wanna set the world on fire

Until it’s burning bright for You

I’ve been singing this song ‘Set the World on Fire,” by Britt Nicole for months now, letting the words settle over my mind and heart, hoping to one day look back and realize I’ve accomplished a small part of that huge task.

It`s everything that I desire
Can I be the one You use?

I think I have found the perfect opportunity to start on my way towards that goal. During every spring break Black Forest Academy sends out missions teams to aid different needs in different places, Russia, Africa, Jordan…

I wanna feed the hungry children
And reach across the farthest land
And tell the broken there is healing
And mercy in the Father`s hands

There is a need in Suceava, Romania which harbors Filadelphia Christian School. A small boarding school, a tiny bit like Black Forest Academy (BFA), their ministry is to educate the financially challenged children in the surrounding villages. As the school is rather small and in a very rural area of Romania, it’s very difficult for people to come and go, so when mission teams do come in it’s a pretty big deal. A mission team from BFA will be working directly with that school, this Spring, and continuing a relationship the BFA Student Council built up last year. The Filadelphia school isn’t sure what they want that team to help out with that week. They could be helping out in English classes or maintenance or hanging out in the dorms and doing things for the dorm students, perhaps all of the above!

My hands my feet
My everything
My life, my love
Lord, use me

I have been invited to be one of thirteen students heading out to help out there in Romania. When I first heard about all the different missions trip I knew I wanted to go on one.

I wanna set the world on fire

I applied for three different trips praying for God to put me in the right one. I honestly feel this is where God wants me during this week. Just like any other Mission trip, this one has needs of it’s own: prayerful support and financial aid. This trip is going to cost 650 Euros, about $1100. Any money raised beyond my expenses will be used to help diminish the over all costs of the Black Forest Academy missions trips as a whole. I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider committing to pray for this team up until and during the week of March 28- April 4, 2009 and offering to be one of the financial supporters I need. I need to be fully funded by March 5. Will you be one of fifteen $75 givers?

I’m gonna set the world on fire.

Christ’s enduring love and light to you all!

UPDATE BY TED: As of about 5:30am MST, I’m stone free! Thanks for your prayers.

I just wanted to send this out to all our pray-ers out there. Ted is suffering from a kidney stone his last night in CO. Please be in prayer that it will pass early this evening. He went to the Dr. and they gave him some pretty heavy duty pain-killers, anti-biotics, and anti-nausea medication. He is supposed to be flying home at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, catching a connecting flight in TX and then arriving home at 5:00 pm. This is a long day of traveling for someone in excellent health. Please join us in prayer that he will pass this stone this evening and be rested for this flight. If he needs to stay in CO longer, please give him peace, and pray that God will allow him to pass it quickly and we will be able to find him another flight home cheaply. Thank you in advance for your prayers. Many blessings, Brandy

Many of you will remember several months ago, we thought we’d found a house in Germany. However, as we looked at the house (via a video skype call) and began to get all the details, it seemed less and less like the right place. We called on the Lord in prayer, and within a few days, the offer was retracted.

Many of you will also remember our mentioning Durand Robinson, the visionary behind Creative Works, our original ministry. Durand and his wife, Ruth, have taken Creative Works to Ireland, where they are focusing on local music ministries for Irish churches (you can read all about their ministry by clicking the Creative Works link in our blog roll). Their home in the Kandern area remains unoccupied. Since they first moved, we’ve thought their house is perfect for us. It has enough space for all of us, is close to everything, and is right next door to the Meyer’s house – our new supervisors with GemStone Media. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to buy their house.

However, we’ve just received word they are taking it off the market, and would like to rent it to us at — wouldn’t you know — almost exactly what we’ve budgeted to pay for rent. Isn’t God amazing?

Their realtor has a few weeks yet to sell before the contract expires. We hope you’ll be praying with us, that if this isn’t God’s will, the house will sell for a good price and bless the Robinsons that way. We did want to share with you, though, how God continues to look out for us, as we move forward in faith.

January’s prayer letter is out, and you can get it here. However, we simply had too many things to share this month, so I wanted to share some of the details about last months prayer results here.

Church Meetings:

Many of you were praying for our three church meetings the end of December. The first, an update for Calvary Chapel (our hosts here in Connecticut) was canceled due to weather. We got a massive snow storm, and for safety reasons the deacons here were forced to cancel the church service. However, our God knew that was coming, and so he led me to prepare that presentation on DVD (our Cox News update below) and I was able to leave the DVD here while we traveled to Colchester the following Sunday.

December 23rd found us at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Colchester, an exciting church. New churches are always an opportunity to see God through someone else’s glasses, and we were blessed by the experience. Abundant Life is deeply committed to sharing Christ with their community and the world. While there, we had a chance to talk to a lot of missions minded people, and hear about many of the ways they were reaching out with the love of Christ.

The Sunday after Christmas, we spoke at the evening service of Christian Fellowship Church of Scotland. They were actually just written up in the local paper, because of their incredible growth in the face of near non-existant church attendance increases in the area. Our evening with them upheld the growth rate, since once we finished speaking the body of the service was given over to baptizing new believers. We were also really stunned by their praise team. They were rehearsing as we set up our table before presenting, and we honestly mistook them for a CD. They are really good!

Both of the churches gave us a gift to thank us for speaking, which will go to further supplement our outgoing expenses. Both are neat churches, filled with open hearted believers, and we are blessed by having met them. However, we have not yet heard of anyone from these churches who has offered to join our financial support team. Please pray for God to raise up more supporters on our behalf!

House Update:

Finally, we wanted to update you on our house. While things looked a little iffy at first, the sale went through without a hitch. We’re extremely pleased to have one less thing standing between us and our departure. Praise the Lord!

If you’re looking for a way to get involved in missions, a way to grow closer to God, or just a way to focus more deeply this holiday season, I recommend you check out the prayer initiative GEM is doing through the 8th of January. Here’s the summary:

“The value of consistent prayer is not that He will hear us, but that we will hear Him”. ~William McGill

Announcing 50 Days with God!

This month, Greater Europe Mission begins a prayer initiative, “50 Days with God”. As Psalm 63 (below) announces, we will unitedly and earnestly seek the Lord, thirsting and longing for Him. The goal of the fifty days is to prepare our souls to hear from the Lord as we find renewed delight in His presence. Slated to start this week, I invite you to join in with us in this prayer adventure. It will culminate on January 8th with a full Day of Prayer for Europe… an outcry for the Lord to intervene on behalf of this desperate and needy European continent and a plea to envision and empower those who minister there from the fullness of His presence. Join us and embrace this time as a great opportunity to experience God’s mercy and love in your life to a fuller extent. To register to receive a copy of the prayer guide specifically developed within the mission for this time, go on-line at www.GEMission.org/DayofPrayer or call Greater Europe Mission at (719) 488-8008.

For those of you with a high-speed internet connection and an eagerness to get started, there are 5 messages on prayer by Louie Giglio on this website. I think that you will find them to be encouraging, challenging and well worth the effort of downloading them.

Psalm 63:1-5

1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

I’ve noticed that we are getting more hits on “When Do We Leave?” than on everything else on the site combined. I’d love to give you a hard and fast departure date, but I can’t. We need $729 in new monthly support, and then we can buy plane tickets, and set a date. We’re working hard to find partnerships to bring in that support. You can be a part of the effort though. God has the money, every dollar of our support. It’s out there. You are a critical piece of this. Please pray with us, that God will reveal our final partners to us, and pray also that God will soften the hearts of those partners. The truth is that sometimes when God calls us to give we resist. So pray, that God will soften that resistance. Of course, in addition to praying, you could take on a segment of that $729 yourself. If you’re already a giver, and things are tight, maybe you could take on just $5 more. If you feel the Lord nudging you in this way, please click the GIVE link above. We’d love to have your partnership!
